Last week I played my first US Am qualifier event in Arizona. Unfortunately I missed out on qualifying with a +3, 73. Only the top 4 scores would be good enough to qualify for the amature and with 4 scores of -3, 69 I missed out by 6 shots and finished 17th.

It was frustrating to not qualify for the championship especially knowing I could have played the course better. A few missed birdie opportunities and a few too many dropped shots cost me my chance.

Playing dessert golf was a challenge. We had to hit 20-30% less club into greens and fairways as the ball flys and rolls out that much further than on a standard golf course. With dry, hard greens it makes stopping the ball extremely difficult.

This week I am back in California, playing in the Womens California Amateur Championship at Quail Lodge GC. The format consists of 2 round of stroke, a cut of the top 32 players, then matchplay.

The course is playing long as its setup from the very back black championship tees which includes a 200m+ Par 3! Accuracy and length is going to be crucial this week to make it as easy as possible.
